Working together, we provide professional development support that our districts, schools, and teachers can count on to ensure success for all K-8 math learners.
Our Coaching Packages provide targeted support for strengthening school wide areas of need. We work closely with schools, classroom teachers, and interventionists to build out packages to fit their unique needs. Content areas often include:
Coaches work side-by-side with educators to implement new instructional practices through collaborative planning, teaching, and reflection. This supportive and collaborative approach helps to sustain long-term growth and success for ALL students.
From solidifying concepts of quantity, bundling, and our place value system, to developing flexible thinking, Number Sense is at the core of everything we do in math. We work closely with our schools to identify areas of focus such as Number Talks, Counting Collections, Choral Counts, Quick Images, Estimation 180, and 3 Act Tasks, and make a plan for supported implementation.
This package begins with familiarizing teachers and schools with the fact fluency progressions. From there, we work with teachers to leverage student thinking by providing opportunities for structured peer discourse. Facilitating these "strategy shares" positions students to lead the way - sharing and building on each other's thinking as they develop their own toolkits for becoming efficient problem solvers.
The best math intervention supports students flexibly and organically. Developing a framework that positions teachers and students for success but still allows for highly responsive instruction is key. We work with teachers to examine the skill progressions and the concrete-representational-abstract instructional model to create a construct for teaching that is informed, effective, and responsive to our students learning needs.
Tackling word problems can often feel overwhelming. Together we can make a plan for success that includes understanding the 12 problem types encompassed in the Common Core standards, making a structured plan for instruction, and incorporating highly-effective teaching strategies such as innovative language supports and numberless word problems to ensure student success.
Every school and educator is unique. That's why we work closely with our schools to build out packages to meet their specific needs. Together we can build a plan for supported and sustained success.
"Thank you so much for the professional development session yesterday! Honestly, it was one of the best ones I've ever attended. It was so applicable to what we are doing and you are helping us implement things immediately that will directly benefit our students' learning. Thank you!"
