Torrey (M.Ed. Educational Technology, B.S. Math Education, B.A. Mathematics/Statistics) has over thirty years of experience in K-8 math education. After teaching Middle School math for ten years, she received her Master’s in Education Technology and began her work as a consultant supporting schools with standards-based instruction. From curriculum mapping support, lesson design, assessments + progress monitoring, differentiation strategies, and technology integration – Torrey has been an integral part of supporting schools in improving and strengthening their K-8 math programs.
As a math teacher and consultant, Torrey discovered that teachers routinely face the same challenge—trying to support their students who are often missing various prerequisite foundational skills, making it difficult for students to reach their full potential in current grade level math. So, Torrey founded MasterTrack in 2012 to provide teachers and schools with a framework to ensure ALL students master previous grade level skills while still moving through grade level learning.
As the Founder of MasterTrack, Torrey tirelessly works to continue to develop and grow the MasterTrack program to ensure that it meets the needs of every school and educator we serve. She oversees all aspects of our work and is passionate about MasterTrack’s commitment to accelerating every student’s K-8 math learning recovery so that all students are positioned for success in elementary math and beyond.
Torrey brings extensive experience and depth of knowledge in K-8 math education to her work. She is driven by the success our MasterTrack schools experience in supporting all students in reaching their full potential. Positioning students for success in elementary math and beyond is her guiding principle as she leads the MasterTrack team.
“Being a middle school math teacher, I naturally love to solve problems! Too many elementary students move from one grade level to the next without a safety net to ensure they have the prerequisite foundational math skills they need to be successful along the way. I created MasterTrack as a simple yet powerful solution to this pervasive problem. I love helping schools implement MasterTrack and watching their students soar!"

Katie (M.I.T. Elementary Education, J.D. Law, B.A. Economics) is a former classroom teacher, math interventionist, and coach. She began her professional career practicing law, but eventually pursued her true passion for education. She received her Master’s in Teaching from the University of Washington where she developed an insatiable passion for elementary math instruction. She later participated in UW’s Math Inspire Teacher Leader Academy and led her school’s professional development efforts around best practices in math instruction, K-8 math content knowledge, and pedagogy surrounding equity and empowering student voice. When her school began using MasterTrack, she played an integral role in implementing the program – coaching teachers and interventionists to successfully meet student math learning needs, no matter where students might be along the vertical grade level progressions.
As Program Director at MasterTrack, Katie helps guide our MasterTrack schools and teachers as they work to implement accelerated and sustainable math learning recovery for students. She leads our Professional Development efforts - planning, structuring, and supporting educators worldwide in continuing to deepen and grow their math content knowledge and best instructional practices. She loves nothing more than to connect with teachers + school leaders to problem solve and develop plans for long term growth and student success.
Katie joined the MasterTrack team five years ago after using the program at her school. Her down-to-earth approachability coupled with her drive and passion for excellence in math education make her an invaluable member of our team.
“We are ALL learners, no matter our age, no matter our ability. Every learner is full of strengths and exceptionalism. Our job as educators is to uncover and leverage those strengths in our students and ourselves. MasterTrack is the tool that allowed me to do this with intentionality, clarity, and precision – to uncover each of my student’s strengths as well as to grow as a teacher.”

"My favorite part of teaching is watching my students grow throughout the year, both academically and emotionally. Collecting and acting on data plays an integral role in helping teachers support each and every student to grow and reach their full potential. MasterTrack has enabled me to do just that by helping me routinely gather and organize student data, build small groups, and support ALL of my learners quickly and easily, all year long."
