These 60-minute sessions strengthen teachers content knowledge of foundational elementary math skills across grade levels to confidently support students wherever they are!

Number Sense

From solidifying concepts of quantity to developing flexibility in mathematical thinking, communication, and problem solving. Strengthening student Number Sense is a critical part of positioning students for success in elementary math and beyond. We work closely with schools to identify areas of focus such as Number Talks, Counting Collections, Choral Counts, Quick Images, Estimation 180, and 3 Act Tasks, and make a plan for supported implementation.

Fact Fluency

These sessions start with familiarizing teachers and schools with the fact fluency progressions. From there, we work with teachers to leverage student thinking by providing opportunities for structured peer discourse. Facilitating these "strategy shares" positions students to lead the way - sharing and building on each other's thinking as they develop their own toolkits for becoming efficient problem solvers.

Place Value + Computation

Place value is at the core of everything we do in math. It is critical that students understand the significance of notions of ten-ness, unitizing, and exchanging. Providing students with hands-on opportunities to discover the efficiency of bundling and unbundling groups of ten is step one. Connecting this concrete work to the pictorial and abstract representations of place value ensures a strong conceptual foundation of our place value system. We work closely with schools to then leverage this foundation to support work in the areas of computation, comparing, and rounding.

Word Problems

Tackling word problems can often feel overwhelming. Together we can make a plan for success that includes understanding the 12 problem types encompassed in the Common Core standards, making a structured plan for instruction, and incorporating highly-effective teaching strategies such as innovative language supports and numberless word problems to ensure student success.
